roan forest named to tbec honor roll
Roan Forest Elementary School made the Texas Business and Education Coalition (TBEC) Honor Roll for 2011. Of the more than 8,000 Texas public schools, less than four percent receive this honor.
The TBEC Honor Roll award is the most prestigious award for sustained, academic excellence in Texas. This award recognizes schools that have demonstrated three years of consistent, high performance in all subject areas compared to other schools with similar student populations. TBEC Honor Roll schools have the highest percentage of students performing at the state’s most rigorous standard of “Commended” in every subject.
“I am excited the Roan Forest community is being recognized by TBEC for the academic achievements of our children,” said Melissa Alcala, Roan Forest principal. “The teamwork between the family, staff and children promotes the success of our school.”
The school will be awarded during a reception on December 2, 2011 at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas.
The Honor Roll award was established in 2000 by TBEC to draw attention to those public schools that perform at the highest levels. Schools do not apply for this award, rather it is earned based on academic performance. The mission of TBEC is to bring business and education leaders together to help secure the future of Texas.
