roan forest meets meriwether lewis

Roan Forest Elementary School met American explorer "Meriwether Lewis" on Monday, Feb. 11.

Third graders visited with Bill Perryman, who is known throughout Texas for his portrayals of famous American heroes like Meriwether Lewis.

The students were enthralled as he took the students on the Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1804 when President Thomas Jefferson gave the pair an assignment to explore the territory of the Louisiana Purchase.

Bill Perryman is an award-winning teacher recognized as a “Friend of Social Studies Education” by the Texas Council of Social Studies. He is the founder of History in Person Theater, an official touring arts program for the Texas Commission on the Arts.
