Redland students acknowledged for the supporting the troops
Throughout the 2008-2009 school year students at Redland Oaks Elementary sent cards and letters to troops serving in Iraq. During the holidays, they made special cards and pictures to express their gratitude and support of the troops.
In acknowledgement, an Operation Iraqi Freedom certificate and an American Flag was presented to the students of Redland Oaks. The flag was personally flown over Iraq during a life saving MedEvac mission by Blackhawk MedEvac Helicopter #86-24527, call sign "Alamo 33." Shannon Beasley, former parent, presented the flag and certificate on behalf of the crew to Ricky Ortega, president of the Redland Oaks Student Senate during the school’s telecasted morning announcements.
"The certificate and flag will be proudly displayed in the school's library," said Dr. Mary Longloy, principal. "Redland Oaks loves and supports our troops!"
