Reagan named 'Top Pick' for student-run Firstmark Credit Union
The Reagan High School student-run branch of Firstmark Credit Union has made NerdWallet's top pick list for high school programs.
NerdWallet is a website that provides information and recommendations designed to help consumers with financial planning. This month they showcased the value of financial literacy programs, and highlighted school programs across the U.S.
The Reagan Firstmark branch opened in February 2012 as part of a Financial Literacy Partnership, which includes both a student-run branch and curriculum support in financial Literacy. Students are hired by the credit union and receive the same level of training as other front-line staff.
According to NerdWallet, “Student-run credit unions are a great way for youth to establish a healthy banking relationship and learn leadership skills.”
