reagan class uses digital storytelling

Reagan High School students used Digital Storytelling along with new iPads for their Speaking and Writing Assessment in Gloria Lowe's Spanish I class. This assessment covered vocabulary and grammar concepts learned throughout the semester, but most importantly allowed the students to express themselves in context and in a relevant and practical manner.

"I am part of a Foreign Language Cohort that has allowed us to try a new approach to reach our students," said Lowe. "I am so appreciative of this program and what it has allowed my students to achieve. I have taught for over 20 years and I have never seen this much success in the students ability to communicate, write, and express themselves in the target language."

Along with Digital Storytelling, the students also had to record themselves in the target language using an iPad. Their conversational topics were the same as their digital video, but they could not use any notes and had to speak for a minimum of one minute and/or up to two minutes to receive credit.
