NEISD Art students shine at competition

NEISD art teachers accompanied students to the the regional Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) on Saturday, Feb. 9, and the results were overwhelming.

NEISD has almost 60 students advancing to the state competition.

NEISD entries made up nearly half of all the artwork entered by ten school districts.

Below are some of results of the competition.

THE RESULTS

Total Regional Entries = 1,630

       NEISD Entries = 805

Total number of Regional Entries receiving a rating of IV (the highest rating achievable) = 1,172

       NEISD entries receiving a rating of IV  = 564

Total Regional Entries qualified for State Competition = 117

       NEISD State Qualifiers = 59

The teachers with the highest number of State Qualifiers in Region 20W

       Jennifer Janak, NESA, with 15 advancing

     

The teacher with the 2nd highest number of State Qualifiers in Region 20W

       Luis Salinas with 10 advancing - Johnson High School

   

The teacher with the 3rd highest number of State Qualifiers in Region 20W

       Stephanie White with 8 advancing - MacArthur High School

Listed below are the numbers of state qualifiers by school.  The State Visual Art Scholastic Event will be held April 14 at Bryan High School.
