NEISD major part of state convention highlights
There were many highlights at the Texas Coaches and Athletic Directors (THSCA) Convention in Fort Worth last week. More than 11,000 people attended the convention, many from NEISD.
Two people from NEISD were a major part of the convention highlights. On Monday morning, July 25, at the athletic directors' business meeting, Karen Funk, Director of Women's Athletics, was elected as the vice president of the THSADA. She will serve the association in this capacity for this school year.
That same evening, at Texas Christian University in the Basketball All-Star game between the top senior athletes from the state, Tre Demps of Reagan High School scored 28 points and was named the Most Valuable Player for the South All-Stars. His point total was unusually high for an all star game that requires all of the players to participate in the contest.
"Congratulations goes to each of these individuals for their outstanding representation of North East School District," said Jerry Comalander, executive director of athletics.
