NEISD students take first place in SAFD safety poster contest

The following NEISD art students were winners in the San Antonio Fire Department Safety Poster Contest. They received their awards and prizes Saturday Oct. 22, in a ceremony at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

• Crystal, Roosevelt High School, teachers - Sue Ferris and Janie Smith 1st PLACE High School Division
• Madeline, Lopez Middle School, teacher - Melissa Volz 1st PLACE Middle School Division
• Kelsey, Tejeda Middle School, teacher - Analisa Shinn 3rd PLACE Middle School Division
• GRAND PRIZE WINNER - Crystal, Roosevelt High School, teacher - Sue Ferris and Janie Smith

"Taking first place in two divisions in the San Antonio Fire Department Safety Poster Contest signifies the dedication of art students and the commitment to the San Antonio community on the part of the Roosevelt art teachers and their students," said Gloria Hill, Visual Art & Elementary Music Director. "They are always in the forefront in taking advantage of opportunities for student success. All NEISD art teachers are to be commended for the many contests, exhibits, and events they provide."

All winners received a trophy and a wide variety of art supplies, as well as additional gifts unique to each winner.
