NEISD says thank you to sa Sports Foundation
SA Sports Foundation is an organization that has provided many benefits over the years to North East students and the community. Because of their long-standing partnership with NEISD, they were invited to be recognized by the North East ISD Board of Trustees at their regular meeting on Oct. 8.
Special invited guests included Susan Blackwood, executive director; Mary Ullmann Japhet, associate executive director of external affairs; and Bill Hanson, associate executive director of Operations/Soccer. Helping to make the presentation was Jerry Comalander, executive director of Athletics, and Rachel Naylor, director of P.E., Health and Athletics.
"They care about children as much as we do," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian G. Gottardy. "Working together we help to strengthen multiple aspects of a child’s well being - physical, mental and emotional. I look forward to our continued partnership."
SA Sports is a nonprofit organization that recognizes the link between healthy bodies and healthy minds and works every day to provide sports and fitness programs that inspire children and their families to live active, healthy lives.
They are in 262 local elementary schools with their ING Kids Rock Marathon training program and Go!Kids Challenge™. Their Dreams for Youth After school Program introduces U.I.L. sport fundamentals after school to inner-city children by providing coaching, equipment, and nutrition and character-building lessons. Additionally, their Fit Family Challenge expands kids’ fitness efforts with a fun, incentivized three-month, county-wide program for the whole family.
