NEISD superintendent takes pink tie challenge
Cindy Matteson is a cancer survivor and team captain of Cindy’s Pink Ninjas, a breast cancer awareness and fundraising team.
The team asked North East ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian G. Gottardy to participate in a special “Mission Possible” necktie challenge that would raise money for breast cancer. Teams asked notable San Antonio leaders such as Dr. Gottardy to wear a pink tie for the entire month of October. The ties were then signed and collected to then be auctioned with 100 percent of the proceeds going to breast cancer awareness and education.
Dr. Gottardy was more than happy to participate and support such a worthy cause. He signed his tie and donated it to the cause on Oct. 31. Other pink tie challenge participants were Madison High School Principal Chris Thompson and San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro.
