NEISD Board hosts 'meet and greet' with Dr. Brian Gottardy
DATE:
Sept. 15
TIME: 5 - 6:30 p.m.
LOCATION: NEISD Community Learning Center, 8750 Tesoro Dr.
The NEISD Board of Trustees will host a 'meet and greet' for Dr. Brian Gottardy, the lone finalist for the superintendent, on Thursday, Sept. 15 from 5 - 6:30 p.m. at the district's Community Learning Center. This reception is open to the entire community. Light hors d'oeuvres will be served.
“I look forward to any chance I have to meet with our community members,” said Gottardy. “At North East we are a team, and everyone—community, staff and students—has a vital role to the district’s quality education and tradition of excellence.”
The reception will offer the opportunity for community and staff to meet personally with Gottardy. On Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, the Board named Gottardy lone finalist for the top position at NEISD.
Before being named Interim Superintendent, Gottardy held the position of Associate Superintendent for Business Services and Operations. He was named interim in late February 2011 when the former superintendent announced his retirement. Gottardy’s interim duties became effective May 2.
Since taking the reins of the second largest school district in Bexar County and the 8th largest school district in Texas, Gottardy has successfully navigated a myriad of responsibilities during the busiest time of the school year. From the very difficult task of making up to $70 million worth of cuts over the next two years due to the state’s budget crisis to filling vacant executive-level positions, Gottardy has steadily sailed NEISD through these turbulent challenges. With an almost entirely new executive staff, Gottardy led eight convocations, where he spoke to all faculty and staff members in each cluster about his vision and goals, as well as emphasizing the importance of a 360-degree education.
