NEISD student talent unparalleled in San Antonio

The success of NEISD students at the Las Casas Foundation competition last weekend at the Empire Theatre is reflected in the scholarships awarded.

The Foundation, which recognizes excellence in the performing arts, is led and largely supported by San Antonio arts patrons. Students were awarded scholarships in duet acting, solo vocal, solo dance, and monologue.

Scholarships awarded to students at:

MacArthur - $5,500

Churchill - $3,000

Reagan - $1,500

Johnson - $13,000

NESA - $41,500

NEISD claimed a total of $64,500 in scholarships, out of a total of $70,000 awarded to students in the San Antonio region.

"Congratulations to students and directors whose talent is unparalleled in the city," said Diana Schumacher, Executive Director of Fine Arts & Student Activities.
