NEISD JROTC hosts 5th Brigade Air Rifle Championship
LOCATION: Air Hall, Hill Country Shooting Sports Center, 1896 Cypress Creek Road, Kerrville, TX
The NEISD JROTC program will host the Army JROTC Air Rifle Championships of the 5th Brigade on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7 - 8 in Kerrville, TX. Friday's competition begins at noon and Saturday starts at 8 a.m. The Texas State All Service JROTC Air Rifle Championships will also be held concurrently, and both categories of competition, Sporter Class and Precision Class Air Rifles, will be evaluated. Finals and the award presentation will begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8.
Army JROTC Air Rifle Teams from the 5th Brigade's eight-state footprint (Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and Wyoming) and all Texas State JROTC Air Rifle Teams from all military service-sponsored programs will participate. The event is sponsored by the 5th Brigade Army JROTC, the Civilian Marksmanship Program and the Texas Army National Guard.
This is the inaugural event to crown the JROTC State Air Rifle Champions and recognize the top Army JROTC Air Rifle Shooters from the eight states of the Brigade. These winners will advance to represent the 5th Brigade at the Army National Air Rifle Championships to be held in February 2013, in Anniston, AL.
The competition will be held on a fully electronic range where about 50 four-person teams will compete along with more than 230 individual shooters. JROTC cadets from MacArthur, Roosevelt, Reagan, Churchill and Johnson will participate.
