Hughey Reelected to Statewide Association Board
The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) reelected NEISD Board Secretary Sandy Hughey to a three-year term on the TASB Board of Directors, representing TASB Region 20E.
Hughey has been a local trustee since May 2000 and currently represented district 1.Over the years, she has held the positions of president and vice-president. She has served on the TASB Board since 2009 and is a graduate of 2002 Leadership TASB and a Master Trustee. Hughey attended Lee High School in Houston and Sam Houston State University. She is in the accounting business on a part-time basis. She serves her community as director of the North East Educational Foundation, secretary of the Bexar County Coalition of School Boards, and member of the North East Council of PTAs.
TASB is a nonprofit organization established in 1949 to serve local public school districts. School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve more than 4.9 million public school students.
