NEISD schools celebrate Grandparents Day
School from across the district will celebrate Grandparents Day. Camelot Elementary School is excited to celebrate Grandparents' Day on Friday, Sept. 7 at 8 a.m. Grandparents will come enjoy breakfast and a keepsake craft with their grandchild.
"It was such an honor to plan such an amazing event that was enjoyed by so many people!" said Karen Kohler, Family Specialist at Camelot. "It was standing room only! We are going to need a bigger room next year."
Kohler was pleased with the turnout of more than 100 grandparents. The staff, grandparents and students are looking forward to celebrating their grandparents again next year.
Cibolo Green Elementary School welcomes all grandparents to celebrate this special day on Sept. 14 at 8 a.m.
Each grade level will have activities planned for grandparents to interact with their grandchild. Kindergarten will play alphabet bingo. First grade will make puppets and play bingo. Second grade will have various stations including, card games, reading stories, writing thank you letters, iPad activities, and puzzles. Third grade will have grandparents participate in Daily 5 reading activities and then participate in specials. Fourth grade will have craft projects. Fifth grade will have stations involving reading comprehension activities.

In observance of Grandparents Day, Colonial Hills Elementary School will host a Grandparents Breakfast on Monday, September 10, 2012 from 7- 8 a.m. in the school cafeteria.
All grandparents are cordially invited to join their grandchildren for breakfast. We welcome the opportunity to honor our grandparents and provide them with some time to spend with their children's children.

El Dorado Elementary School celebrated Grandparent's Day by recording this event through pictures. Our PTA was on hand to process and distribute the free photos of the children with their grandparents. Mrs. Crane, our librarian, has created a fun questionnaire for the grandparents to do together with their grandchild/ren. This event stretched over two days due to our great attendance. We had close to 200 grandparents this year.
Fox Run Elementary School grandparents are invited to visit in their grandchild's classrooms on Friday, Sept. 21 for third - fifth graders. Schedule is as follows: Third grade, 8:30 - 9 a.m.; Fourth grade 9:10 - 9:40 a.m.; and Fifth grade 1 - 1:30 p.m.

Kindergarten classes will have story time! Bring your favorite book and a blanket to sit on.
First grade will have “Me Bags." Bring 4-5 items to share with your grandchild that will teach them something new about you.
Second grade will enjoy a 7 Habits Activity. Read a few good books and create a 7 Habits tree.
Third grade will enjoy Past and Present! Grandparents will share what it was like to live and go to school in their time. The students and grandparents will draw what they have learned, comparing now to then.
Fourth and Fifth grades will conduct grandparent interviews. Students will be asking questions and writing down answers in order to create a memory book.
Second-grade student Gabriela Sosa had a great time with her grandparents Arturo and Bertha Sosa in celebration of Grandparents Day at Jackson-Keller Elementary School.
Lee High School Principal Rick Canales is inviting Lee grandparents to join him with their Lee student at breakfast in honor of National Grandparents Day. The event will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Richard Middleton Library on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012 at 8 a.m. Entertainment will be provided by the Fine Arts Dept of Lee High School.
Oak Grove Elementary School's event will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012, from 7:45-9 a.m. We are excited to meet our extended families and have them spend time with their children!
Our activities will range from having "Tea Time" to creating artistic collages. The schedule for K-5 is as follows:
7:45-7:50: Meet in the Library (Welcome Celebration)
7:50-8:00: Morning Assembly (In Gym)
8:00-8:45: Grandparent Celebration with Student (In Classroom)
8:45-9:00: Meet in the Library (Mingle Time)
Our Pre-K a.m. group has been invited to breakfast and our Pre-K p.m. group will join us for lunch. At Oak Grove our motto is "Work Hard, Be Nice, and Have Fun!"
Olmos Elementary School students will demonstrate their love and care for their grandparents on Sept 7 from 7:30-8:30 a.m..
Like all NEISD schools Redland Oaks Elementary School recognizes the importance of grandparents in the lives of children. The school will celebrate Grandparent's Day the week of September 10. Grandparents are invited to have lunch with their grandchildren in the school's cafeteria on the following days and times:
- Kindergarten 10:55 - 11:35 a.m.
- Fifth Grade 11:20 - 11:55 a.m.
- Pre-K 12:15 - 12:50 p.m.
- Second Grade 11:35 a.m. - 12:10 p.m.
- Fourth Grade 12:05 - 12:40 p.m.
- First Grade 11:10 - 11:45 a.m.
- Third Grade 11:50 a.m. - 12:25 p.m.
School staff hopes that their Redland grandparents will be able to come have lunch with their grandchild in celebration of Grandparent's Day!
On September 7, 2012 Roan Forest Elementary School is inviting all Grandparents to join their student for fellowship and fun with the PTA. Refreshments and fun activities are planned to acknowledge the importance of a Grandparent's role in the life of a child. Activities will occur in the cafeteria from 8:30-10 a.m.
In honor of Grandparents Day, Royal Ridge Elementary School is inviting grandparents to play a game with their grandchild on Friday, September 7, 2012. Grandparents can bring a game that they would like to teach their grandchild, or the child can bring a game to play. Games will be played in the classroom. Games times for each grade level are:
Kindergarten: 11:15-11:45 a.m.
First: 1:30-2:00 p.m.
Second: 12:30-1:15 p.m.
Third: 1:30-2:15 p.m.
Fourth: 8:00-8:30 a.m.
Fifth: 12:00-12:30 p.m.
Grandparents are invited to come share a special time with their grandchildren at Serna Elementary School on September 7, 8 - 10 a.m.. They will have an opportunity to take a photo together and take part in a craft in the school's library. Refreshments will be served. Stahl Elementary School is excited to invite grandparents to join their grandchildren for a delicious lunch on September 11, 12 and 13 in the cafeteria. A keepsake picture will be given to the grandparents.
Stone Oak Elementary School will celebrate Grandparents Day with different activities in the students' classrooms on September 14:
Kindergarten, First and Third: 8 - 8:30 a.m.
Second, Fourth and Fifth: 8:45 - 9:15 a.m.
In celebration of Grandparents Day, grandparents are cordially invited to join their grandchild for lunch at Thousand Oaks Elementary School.
Students with the last name beginning with A-M will eat with their grandparents on Sept. 6.
Students with the lasts name beginning with N-Z will eat with their grandparents on Sept. 7.

On Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, Wilshire Elementary School celebrated "Grandparents Day." Many grandparents came out to celebrate and enjoyed having lunch and spending time with their grandchildren.
