neisd joins press conference on school funding
Research think tank Children at Risk, held a news conference on Jan. 31 to urge legislators to reverse the impact of budget cuts during the last legislative session. The organization conducted a comprehensive research study to show how public education is being affected.
North East ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian G. Gottardy was invited as a special guest to speak about how NEISD is finding ways to do more with less. Gottardy spoke about increases in class size, discontinuing some programs and facing tougher accountability standards while losing $70 million over the past two years.
“We’ve worked hard to maintain success, to continue our nationally-recognized programs that support our belief in the value of a 360-degree education for all students, but you can only do that for so long until an impact is felt in the classroom,” he said.
Several radio and television stations were in attendance.
