High school students from Texas will form teams to compete in SAE International’s F1 in Schools regional competition. Reagan High School and Roosevelt High School are competing Saturday, March 23.

Teams will experience the engineering process by designing a model Formula One Car using 3D CAD software and then manufacture their model using CAM software and a CNC machine. They will race the cars as well as conduct a verbal presentation and an engineering interview.

Winners from these regional competitions will move onto the U.S. National Competition at Michigan International Speedway in May.

The national competition provides the platform for U.S. teams who qualify to attend (based on their regional performance) to compete for the chance to travel to the World F1 in Schools Competition to represent the United States. This year’s world competition will take place at this location in Austin, Texas in November.
