Board Recognitions Nov. 12, 2012
On Monday, November 12, 2012, the NEISD Board of Trustees met during their regular monthly meeting and recognized various groups and students across the district.

Invocation and Pledge
Ed White Middle School students Caleb Carmichael and Alexander O’Neal delivered the invocation and pledge, respectively, for the evening.
Carmichael (shown below on left), an eighth grader at White, is a member of the National Junior Honor Society, Theatre Arts program, Safe School Ambassadors and is also a future participant of the school's spelling bee. He hopes to succeed and advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
O’Neal (shown below on right) is also an eighth grader at White and is a member of the Yearbook club and the Safe School Ambassadors program. He is also a student aide in the school's front office and, according to his principal, he does an exceptional job.

Perfect Attendance
Octavio Reyna's kindergarten class at Olmos Elementary School received special recognition for earning perfect attendance for the first nine weeks of school. Reyna attributed the success of this achievement to the parents of his students, for their consistent encouragement of school attendance. Olmos principal, students and their parents joined Reyna in this recognition.

National Recognition
The JROTC programs of both Johnson and Reagan high school were presented with plaques detailing their success in the 2011-2012 JROTC Leadership Symposium and Academic Bowl, which took place in Washington DC this summer. The Johnson Army JROTC Leadership Team and the Reagan JROTC Academic Team were each joined by their instructor and principal during the meeting.

Green Building
Representatives from the U.S. Green Building Council presented the 2012 Green School Award certificate to NEISD. The district earned this recognition for the Agriscience Magnet Program renovation project, which is part of the 2007 bond program.
