NEISD's battle of the books
"Do not fear mistakes. If it doesn't work, we'll simply try again." The answer is Benjamin Franklinstein Lives! by Matthew McElligott.
Students listened to quotes and story details to identify the book or author in this year's Battle of the Books competition Monday, May 20.
"They were amazing. Students were able to buzz in after hearing just one word," said Jo Chasse, Hardy Oak Librarian.
This was the sixth year for the district Battle of the Books competition. It has grown to include 36 schools split into two divisions.

Students were encouraged to read 18 award-winning books by May. The students read the books throughout the school year and many kept a log to record important details from the book.
