NEISD seniors earn $1,000 scholarships from alamo toyota

Alamo Toyota recognized four outstanding NEISD seniors for their accomplishments in high school at an awards presentation Tuesday, May 27. These seniors each earned a $1,000 scholarship.

Mariana Velasquez (MacArthur)– Maria was selected based on her community service at church, local hospitals and elementary schools. She will graduate Summa Cum Laude, is an NHS member, and 2013 & 2014 All State Academic Achievement recipient. Mariana will attend either Southern Methodist University or University of Texas at San Antonio and major in Environmental Engineering.

Kelly Walsh (Johnson)– Kelly was selected based on her enthusiasm to learn and leadership roles. She participated in Texas Tech Leadership Seminar Camp, is an AP Scholar, Presidential Volunteer Service Award recipient, TMEA All-Region Band member, and captain of her club soccer team. Kelly will attend either University of Texas at Austin or Texas A&M University and major in Chemistry.

Mackenzie Beldon (Churchill)– Mackenize was selected based on her leadership roles and community involvement. She served as president of her class and the National Honor Society. She achieved great balance in serving others while maintaining an outstanding GPA. Mackenize will major in the Business Honors program at the McCombs School of Business at University of Texas in Austin.

Courtney Kiolbassa (Reagan)– Courtney was selected based on her spirited leadership and community awards including being named a National Merit Finalist. She was a State Solo Finalist and State Dance competition winner and a dedicated volunteer in her church and other various organizations. Courtney will attend Texas A&M University and major in Business Administration/Business Honors.
