Newly adopted Trustee Districts: Rezoning After 2010 Census

Due to growth in some parts of the school district, the 10 percent difference allowable in voting age population between trustee districts has been exceeded. This obligated the district to revise trustee districts.

The Board of Trustees held a public hearing on January 9, 2012 to hear the comments of patrons on this issue and to consider approving the proposed trustee districts. The proposed trustee districts were approved and submitted to the U.S. Department of Justice for preclearance. Upon approval from the Department of Justice, the new trustee districts will be implemented.

The proposed trustee districts meet the standard required for differences in voting age population, preserve minority majority and minority influence districts, and do not split proposed new voting precincts.
