North East ISD family specialists will host the 9th Annual Parental Involvement Conference. The conference is a free community service by NEISD to offer new and successful parenting strategies.

More than 500 NEISD parents, and family specialists from across the district; and 40 community resources including SA Food Bank, Catholic Charities, United Way, Any Baby Can, WIC and others will be in attendance.

New this year will be an Information Fair with 40 area resources/organizations (some named above) to help parents and families.

This conference is offered for NEISD parents to learn positive and practical parenting skills. Parents will participate in sessions intended to enhance the quality of their family life and decrease family problems or issues. The conference will also offer information for parents to help improve communication with their children and empower themselves as parents. The event will promote parental involvement, and encourage parent participation at school and involvement in their child’s education.

NEISD family specialists coordinate and collaborate with all school staff to support families in need. They enable effective communication between parents, school and the community and maintain the “home school link” through home visits. Family specialists also facilitate and conduct parent education activities and support groups, provide families with information about community agencies, institutions and services within Bexar County, and help students attain maximum educational benefits through special programs.
