Representatives from Churchill and Reagan high schools each spoke to the crowd. The ceremony included a WWII vintage airplane fly over, Proclamation presentation from Senator Leticia Van de Putte, and the USAF Band of the West Brass Quintet performed the National Anthem of France and the United States.

"It makes me feel that the JROTC are here to salute us and wish us the best," said Tomas Jimenez, who served with the 5th Infantry Regiment of the 71st Division. "We as veterans wish that they will follow us like we did the veterans of World War I."
