neisd hosts 4th annual health fair, free community event

North East ISD will host its 4th Annual Health and Wellness Education Fair on October 15, 2011 from 9 a.m. to noon at Blossom Athletic Center (12002 Jones Maltsberger Road).

This event is free and open to the NEISD community to provide valuable information on many health-related issues, such as heart health, nutrition, health care, diabetes education, dental care, asthma management, sleep apnea, cancer awareness plus many more.

Free health screenings will be offered, including Body Mass Index, vision/glaucoma checks, body fat percentage and glucose. Flu shots will also be available by H-E-B for $27 for community members.

Children’s activities will also include a rock-climbing wall and Wii Dance Pads.

NEISD began a multi-faceted Wellness initiative in 2007 to educate and motivate the district’s community in order to dedicate themselves to the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle. The Health and Wellness Education Fair is part of that initiative which strives to address wellness and educate the community on disease management/prevention, physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
