North east educational foundation hosts golf tournament

The rain couldn't keep golfers away from the 8th annual North East Educational Foundation (NEEF) golf tournament. A record number of attendees braved the downpour to support a good cause.

Paul Wildeman was just one of the community leaders whose company, Daktronics, sponsored the NEEF tournament.

"NEISD has been good to us--super good partners. We feel they are a quality district and we're a company that believes in quality and in not cutting corners," said Wildeman. "My four daughters go to North East schools and I believe it's the best district in San Antonio--dare I say South Texas."

There were 130 golfers on hand, representing 35 companies and community members donated more than $70,000 to the 2013 tournament. The event was emceed by David Chancellor, News 4 San Antonio sports anchor.

"If you support the local community to make it prosper, then your company prospers. The cornerstone of that is education," said Jeff Beckel of Frost Bank.

The title sponsor of the tournament, Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union, gave of their time and funds to make the tournament a success. "I'm a proud product of NEISD and we love to do anything that helps this district succeed," said Rafael Rodriguez of RBFCU.

The NEEF board of directors worked hard to provide breakfast, door prizes and goodie bags that helped to make this soggy day an enjoyable event.

All of the funds received by NEEF will go toward grants to fund innovative projects for NEISD classrooms. For more information on the North East Educational Foundation, please visit www.northeastfoundation.org or contact Amy Lane at (210) 407-0555.
