Montgomery sends donations to Oklahoma
Montgomery Elementary School is sending donations to Oklahoma for the victims of the devastating tornadoes.
Students, staff and the community collected donations of water, toilet paper, diapers, and other necessities.
Lisa Myers, a teacher at Montgomery Elementary School, said her husband Boyd was so moved by the destruction in Moore, Oklahoma, that he felt he needed to do something. Lisa Myers sent a message to all the teachers that he was going to Oklahoma and would take any donations. Communities in Schools helped organize their parent volunteers.
The Myers collected clothes, cleaning supplies, and food to fill his truck and trailer. Students and parents wrote messages on donated bikes offering support.
Myers' friends are also taking trucks and trailers to pick up donations in Waco and Dallas.
The massive tornado hit an area outside Oklahoma City Monday, May 20. Several students at an elementary school were killed. At least 24 people were killed when several tornadoes ripped through the area.
