mckinney project gets donation from students
During the month of November, the students of Primrose School of Stone Oak conduct an annual food drive to assist families in need. This year, they chose the North East ISD McKinney-Vento Homeless Project to be the recipient of their donation.
The children and their parents were encouraged to drop off food and/or new clothing at the school throughout the month. Additionally, the children were asked to earn money at home by completing chores assigned by their parents. The money that the children earned was then collected and the eldest group of students known as "Explorers" went on a field trip to H.E.B. and purchased specific food items to be donated the McKinney-Vento Homeless Project.
The students worked very hard at home and they were able to donate more than 400 items of food and clothing to the project. McKinney-Vento Homeless Project Liaison Adriana Hernandez collected the items and expressed the district’s gratitude for the donation. The donation drive was spearheaded by Primrose Executive Director Jennifer Wilken, with direct support from owner Evelyn Montalvan.
