mckinney program aids students with donation drive
An apartment fire located at Wood Hollow Apartment complex displaced numerous families, including nine North East ISD students. The community pulled together to make sure they had the necessities to get through this tragedy.
Each of the families suffered a total loss due to the fire, water and smoke damage. The Red Cross placed them in a temporary hotel for three days. The McKinney-Vento Homeless Program is currently assisting with emergency clothing and hygiene items.
The program asked the community to come together and support these North East ISD families with donations. A donation station was set up in the old gym. Parents and staff from Ridgeview, staff from Harris Middle School, and members of the community donated various items for the families.
Please contact the McKinney-Vento Homeless Project for questions and donations. Donations are accepted during business hours at 3736 Perrin Central, Bld #1, SA, TX. 78217. You may also call 210-407-0750 to schedule a pickup. All donations go directly to the families.
