Madison JROTC cadet attends Navy Track Camp

Jordan Choate, a junior from Madison High School, attended the United States Naval Academy Track Camp in Annapolis, Maryland from July 3 - 7 2011. Navy Track Camp is designed to improve your specific event by doing plyometric and strength development exercises, along with professional one-on-one coaching. Choate’s track event is sprinting, where he learned the fundamentals of sprinting and leg strength training.

Choate is currently in the JROTC program at Madison High School and is the Drill Team commander and has been selected to command a company as well. This is his third year in the program and Choate plans to attend the United States Naval Academy. Two years earlier he also attended the United States Naval Academy Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) camp in 2009.

The Navy Track Camp is staffed by some of the best track and field coaches in the nation including Stephen Cooksey, camp director who also won the 2008 Team USA International Association of Athletics Federations World Indoor Championships.

"The best part about this camp is that it wasn't 'all work and no fun.' The coaches made each workout fun and exciting, which is what will keep me coming back," said Choate. " I highly recommend this camp for anyone who wants to further expand their abilities and who are looking for fun and a worthwhile experience."
