For the fourth year in a row, the Electrical Magnet Apprenticeship program at MacArthur High School is installing the wiring in three Habitat for Humanity homes.
Fourty of the programs best apprentices will be departing the school at 9 a.m. on January 5 to head to the jobsite. Once there, they will be divided up into three teams. Each team consists of a senior team leader, junior and senior wire pullers and freshmen and sophmore sweepers and trash controllers. Robert Valdez, owner of North Star Electric Company the company responsible for the electrical work in the houses, helps supervise the teams to make sure everything is up to city code.
"The students have a good time and have the opportunity to apply what they have learned in the classroom and lab to a real world scenario," said Steve Albert, director.
