Lopez competes in FIRST LEGO League Tournament

On Saturday, December 1, Lopez Middle School took three sixth grade teams and one eighth grade team to Brackenridge High School for the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Qualifier Tournament. Each team competed three times on the robotics challenge and made presentations on a research project, robot design and core FLL values. The eighth grade team will advance to the championship tournament in March at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

The 8th grade team won the trophy for Core Values: Teamwork. In the robotics challenge, overall, the eighth grade team placed fifth. Sixth grade Team Delta placed ninth, sixth grade team Gold placed 11th and sixth grade Team Bravo placed 13th out of 22 registered teams.

The 7th grade team will compete at the January qualifier tournament at Roosevelt High School.
