Longs creek helps Montgomery stay warm
Some students at Montgomery Elementary School will be a little warmer this winter, thanks to the Student Council and PTA at Longs Creek Elementary. The Student Council organized a coat drive, which resulted in 52 used coats being donated and an assortment of sweaters, jackets, hats, gloves and some boots.
All of the items collected were delivered to Montgomery Elementary Family Specialist Ricardo Lopez. “It’s a great partnership for both our schools,” Lopez said.
“The students at Longs Creek have been so generous through the years. I think it’s good for them to see how their giving and sharing can directly assist students who don’t have as much.” Dawn Organ, principal of Longs Creek, agreed with Lopez. “It’s important to instill in our students when they’re young that giving is a responsibility we all share. The primary focus of our Student Council is community service. The coat drive is just one project they have worked on, and we hope to see many great things from them as the year continues.”
