Lee JROTC meets new principal, train for new year
The Lee High School JROTC Leaders met Rick Canales, the school's new principal, during the students' Annual Summer Leadership Training Week in July. Cadets trained in duties and responsibilities for the upcoming school year so the Corps is ready to hit the ground running.
Cadet Company Commanders gain experience giving classroom instruction, getting use to organizing lessons and using audio visual equipment. All cadets get a tune-up on Drill and Ceremony movements and important administrative matters such as how to get their squad and company members promoted and recognized for awards.
Cadet 2nd Lieutenant Thomas Galindo is shown teaching while cadets practice a team building and energizing exercise using folders.
This year cadets got the fortunate opportunity of meeting the school's new principal Rick Canales. He took time to address this years’ JROTC leaders. Cadets were energized by Canales' presentation.
"They were glad to meet Mr. Canales and are up to the expectations of our new principal," said Lt. Colonel William Hendon, army instructor. "We really appreciated being visited by Mr. Canales. It was very nice of him and was a fantastic way to bring our Summer Leadership Training to a close. As far as this years’ group of cadet leaders, I believe they are a good group and that Lee JROTC is in for another good year. We are ready to get started."
