School dedicates auditorium to "the matron of krueger"
Fran Verbal has worked in the same office for more than 37 years. She's been the right-hand to nine principals. She's been called the Matron of Krueger. A giant woman in a small frame.
Krueger Middle School named its newly remodeled auditorium in her honor. She took to the stage Wednesday, October 30, in front of an audience filled with family, friends, former and current students and co-workers to thank everyone.
The Billie F. "Fran" Verbal Auditorium features an updated sound system, new walls, and fresh paint. The old windows are gone and replaced with a solid wall that gives the outside of the school a different and fresher look.
Students on stage for the dedication were excited to perform in their new surroundings. They were also excited to be a part of the dedication for Ms. Verbal.
During the event, Principal John Smith read from a letter in Fran Verbal's personnel file. The letter was from the director of staff personnel written April 9, 1976, formally confirming Verbal's employment with the North East Independent School District. In the letter, the director said he hoped "this school year will set a pattern for a long and enjoyable association in our District."
Now, 37 years later, she is still serving the students and staff at Krueger Middle School.
