Congratulations to the Johnson High School Band on winning the Texas Marching Classic on Oct. 13 at the Round Rock ISD Stadium in Round Rock, Texas. The band placed first both in preliminary and finals competition, and took home awards in finals for Best Music, Best Visual, Best General Effect, Best Colorguard, and Best Percussion.
The band competed against 12 other bands in finals competition, including the 2011 UIL 4A State Marching Champions, Cedar Park High School, and BOA Finalists Vandegrift and Pflugerville High School from the Austin, Texas area.
The band returns to this same stadium on Oct. 27 for the UIL Area D Marching Contest, based on their performance at the UIL Region 12 Marching Contest on Oct. 20 where they earned 1s in competition.
The top 6-7 bands from the 30 or so who perform at the Area D Contest will earn the opportunity to compete at the UIL 5A State Marching Band Contest held at the Alamodome in November.
