Johnson Jaguar boys golf team sets records
It was a record-setting day for the Johnson Jaguar Varsity Boys Golf Team in Ft. Worth. The Jaguars played in one of the largest high school events in the country, the Bart Granger Memorial. This event plays host to 51 teams, most from Texas with a few out-of-state teams from Arizona.
The Jaguars set the single round school records for the low team total on Friday at the Pecan Valley Hills Course with a round of six over par and a 294 total. This record held for exactly 24 hours as the young Jaguars topped Friday’s round with a 5 over par 285 on Saturday at the Pecan Valley River Course. The two day 11 over par round of 579 also set the two day low total for yet another school record.
The steady play earned the Jaguars a second place finish behind last year’s defending 5A state champs, Mansfield. The Bart Granger consists of the Who’s Who among Texas High School golf teams.
Additionally, Junior Jake Judkins fired rounds of 69-68 to capture the individual title also setting records for single and two day low totals for a school record. Sophomore Christian De La Cruz and Junior Jake Goodman had solid tournaments while Junior Jon Lucas and Senior Jake Boggus also played well.
