Johnson holds blood drive, adds to Bone Marrow Registry
Johnson High School held a successful Blood Drive & Bone Marrow Registry Drive on Friday, Jan. 18. The Drive was organized by the Red Cross Club, sponsored by Teacher Rachelle Arechiga, and involved participation from PALs, Student Council and the Clinical Rotation program. The final numbers were 138 units of blood and 34 new registrants for the Bone Marrow Registry.
This was the first year to include the Bone Marrow Registry as part of the drive, which is something the school has wanted to do for some time. Arechiga was inspired to include this component of the drive by her uncle, who was a recipient of a Bone Marrow Transplant in the treatment of his leukemia. So the Bone Marrow Registry is a cause with personal meaning for her family.
