Jackson-Keller celebrates 50 years
Jackson-Keller Elementary School is celebrating their 50th anniversary!
Community members came out to the school the morning of November 28. Refreshments were provided and a memory walk was displayed in the library.
Special guests included Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian G. Gottardy, Board of Trustees President Susan Galindo, Secretary Sandy Hughey, Trustee Shannon Grona and Trustee Jim Wheat. Other special guests included Associate Superintendents Dr. Mark Scheffler, Ron Clary and Dan Villareal, as well as Lee High School Principal Rick Canales and former Jackson-Keller Principal June Sharrer.
All visitors signed a 50th anniversary memory board showcasing Jackson-Keller. A beautiful quilt made by former P.E. Coach Patti Wampler was displayed with more than 21 years of Jackson-Keller school shirts. The 2012 staff also showcased a Recognition Wall honoring all previous principals, Teachers of the Year, PTA Honorary Lifetime Members and Trinity Award Recipients.
The students sang "Happy Birthday" to Jackson-Keller and were very excited to see so many visitors join in their celebration honoring their school. Lifetime Studios donated a large 2012 staff picture in honor of the 50th year celebration.
"Our students were so proud and incredibly excited to see the guests at our 50th year celebration," said Anna Nicolai, principal.
