Councilman, Metro Health Director get vaccines at Harris

Harris Middle School hosted a flu vaccination event on Tuesday, October 1 for students and some special guests. Councilman Carlton Soules and Metro Health Director Dr. Thomas Schlenker were vaccinated at the clinic as part of Texas Influenza Awareness Day.

Nurses from Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care were administering the flu shot or flu mist for students. The flu mist is offered to people between the ages of 2 and 49. People with asthma or certain disorders cannot take the mist. Students who did get it said it felt a little odd but better than a shot.

Doctors recommend people get the flu vaccine every year to reduce your chances of getting the seasonal flu.
