Harris students win MLK Jr. essay competition

Harris Middle School students took first and second places in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay Competition, sponsored by the City of San Antonio. First place goes to Jordan Gilbert and second place goes to Jamie Mullis. Prizes will be awarded at Pittman-Sullivan Park after the MLK Jr. March on Monday, Jan. 16.

Participants wrote or illustrated this year's theme: Journey Beyond the March...Live Beyond the Dream.

This commemorative year is a special since the City of San Antonio has been marching to celebrate Dr. King's dream for 25 years.
