Harmony Hills choir performs at Capitol
The Harmony Hills Elementary School choir was invited to perform at the Capitol building in Austin on Friday, May 10. They were sponsored by Senator Leticia Van de Putte and Senator Donna Campbell. Students performed at noon in the Rotunda.
The group consist of about 75 fourth and fifth graders who audition at the beginning of the year.
Principal Christine Salenga and the school choir program sponsor Maribel Lacey, a family specialist, took the students to Austin for the trip. Many groups came together to help raise funds for this trip: parents, parent advocate Mr. Herring, the PTA, HEB, Little Italy, Las Palapas, and New Horizons School.
The performance was a great concert of patriotic songs, broadway musical selections, and Spanish songs. Many people stopped to watch the children perform their music with great choreography.
