Harmony Hills celebrates 50th anniversary
Harmony Hills Elementary School celebrated its 50th anniversary with a huge parade in front of the school Thursday, April 17.
The school invited back former principals, teachers and students along with the community and families. David Dagere, the principal who helped open Harmony Hills in 1963, was one of the special guests. Dr. Brian G. Gottardy, Superintendent of Schools, NEISD Board Members and Executive Staff walked in the parade.
The school also selected El Rey and La Reyna: Rick Gutierrez, teacher at Harmony Hills for 33 years, and Cindy Walker, Special Education assistant at Harmony Hills for 23 years.
The Churchill High School Drum Line kicked off the event. Students from each grade were in the parade with floats and costumes. Community business partners were also there to help celebrate.
The parade announcers were Mrs. Pearce and Ethan Touchstone, 5th grade.
The Churchill High School Drum Line performed for the crowd.
