Eisenhower students recognized by U.S. Army All-American Bowl
The U.S. Army All-American Bowl (USAAB) hosted an assembly on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 at Eisenhower Middle School to honor the winners of the USAAB Excellence Awards.
Eighth-grade Eisenhower student Simone Jones was awarded for excellence in sports journalism. San Antonio Express News Sports Editor Burt Henry selected her essay as the winning entry among the 67 submitted. Jones will receive a media pass to all Bowl Week activities, where she will produce relevant blog posts of her interviews and observations. These will be showcased on USAAB’s web site and social media.
Two more Eisenhower students were recognized for their academic achievements and excellence in and out of the classroom with the Honor Roll Excellence Award. Eighth-grade students Benjamin Wolf and Caitlyn Boggs were selected by their teachers and principal Rudy Jimenez for this honor. These students win a family four pack of mid-field reserve tickets to the bowl game.
On hand to help with the presentation was San Antonio's own -- and 2013 U.S. Army All-American -- Corey Robinson.
