Eisenhower enters contest to improve library
Eisenhower Middle School is in the running for $10,000 through the Follett Challenge, a program run by Follett Corporation which provides educational tools and services, to implement new library services and technology.
Through the Challenge, Eisenhower submitted a video about why it has the most innovative library, and the public has the chance to vote for them as their favorite video. The entry with the most votes will be named the People’s Choice winner and will receive $10,000 worth of products and services from Follett.
The public can vote until September 1 for the school with the best video about their library program. After registering, users can cast one vote per day.
Eisenhower’s submission is available on the Follett Challenge Web site under the “View Entries” tab at the following link http://www.follettchallenge.com/contests/showentry/788025.
Eisenhower’s video “The 21st Century Learning Libratory” (Library + Laboratory) highlights a communal learning space offering emergent media and resources with the opportunity to investigate, integrate, innovate, and interact.
“Our library is instrumental to the success of our students,” said Teresa Diaz, Librarian at Eisenhower. “Winning would mean we could provide our students with the latest technologies that will help them be even more successful as 21st century learners, both inside and outside the classroom.”
The Follett Challenge recognizes and rewards school libraries for their work in applying technology, content and creativity in ways that engage students, foster literacy and promote critical thinking.
