ETA honored at best of texas awards
The Engineering and Technologies Academy at Roosevelt High School was recognized April 19, 2010, at the annual Best of Texas Awards ceremony in Austin. Chelsea Dixon, TSA member, was named the Best of Texas Outstanding Technology Student winner. A cash scholarship and commemorative plaque was presented to winners and runners-up in each division.
"It is with great pleasure that the Texas Career and Technology Council gathers to recognize the Best of the Best," commented Michelle McCoy, Texas Career and Technology Council chairperson and Family and Consumer Sciences Teachers Association of Texas past president. Theodore Roosevelt once said, 'Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.' That one short statement describes how the students we recognize as the Best of Texas will be remembered as they move on to the next phase of their life."
The Best of Texas Awards are sponsored by the Texas Career and Technology Council (TCTC) and was initiated to recognize outstanding achievements by students enrolled in career and technical education, and exemplary contributions by businesses and community leaders who have dedicated their support to career and technical programs.
The Best of Texas festivities kicked-off with a breakfast reception and award recipients were treated to lunch at the Capitol Grill following the ceremony.
