Driscoll newspaper goes digital

Driscoll Middle School’s “Driscoll Declaration” went live this past Friday, Oct. 7, ushering in the official start of NEISD’s online middle school newspaper program. Driscoll is one of the six middle schools in the district currently participating in the program, offering a student run newspaper featuring campus news, student and teacher highlights, featured stories, and student interest pieces. Going online allows students to publish more frequently and cover more organizations than the traditional hardcopy newspaper. The online format will also allow a greater audience for the students’ work, making the paper a dynamic news source for the community.

All of the NEISD high school journalism programs went online last year and have already garnered several regional, state and national awards. The “Garner Gazette” is scheduled to launch the on Friday, Oct. 14 and the other campuses will launch later in the semester.
