Churchill JROTC crowned Champions at Somerset

Churchill JROTC crowned Champions at SomersetThe Churchill High School JROTC was crowned Grand Champions of the 2012 Somerset “Remember the Vet” Military Skills Meet held on Saturday, October 27. More than 20 San Antonio Area high schools were represented at a competition that included physical fitness, academic, marksmanship, and drill and ceremony events.

"The Chargers first place finish is a reflection of the many hours of hard work the Cadets have spent preparing for this and the other events scheduled for later in the year," said First Sergeant William Parr, JROTC instructor.

The teams led by Cadet Captain Clayton Howard (Black Watch Commander), Cadet Major Danielle Hawryluk (Queen’s Guard Commander), and Cadet Captain Dalton McCord (Raider Team Commander) are determined to lead their teams to national championships in 2012-2013.

The teams placed as follows:

  • 1st Overall Grand Champion 1st JV Physical Fitness
  • 1st Varsity Physical Fitness 1st Female Color Guard
  • 1st Armed Inspection and Exhibition Drill
  • 2nd Male Color Guard 3rd Precision Rifle
  • 3rd Unarmed Drill
