Churchill competes in statewide classical league competition

On April 12-13, ten Latin students from Churchill High School attended the 2013 Texas State Junior Classical League Convention in Flower Mound, Texas, along with their sponsor Mr. Kruebbe. About 2,000 students from across the state attended. Churchill High School won 10th place in overall sweepstakes, and the following students deserve congratulations for placing in the top 10 at the state level in their events:

• Nicholas Casseb – 1st place Ancient Geography
• Jill Fuhrmann – 4th place Ancient Mythology
• Matthew Fuhrmann – 5th place Roman History, 5th place Ancient Geography
• Samantha Hindert – 5th place Latin Academic Decathlon
• Emily Paynter – 5th place sculpture, for a relief of Hannibal crossing the Alps
• Olivia Delgado – 6th place Latin Vocabulary, 8th Reading Comprehension
• Samy Khalil – 7th place Latin Grammar

Churchill freshman Nicky Casseb will be attending the week-long National JCL Convention this summer at University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
