Camelot 4th graders learn about graffiti
DATE:
Sept. 26
TIME: 12:45 - 1:15 p.m.
LOCATION: Camelot ES, Library, 7410 Ray Bon Street
Camelot Elementary School will host a visit from Lisa McKenzie, the City of San Antonio's Neighborhood Services Coordinator in the Graffiti Enforcement Department, on Monday, Sept. 26, at 12:45 p.m. in the school's library. McKenzie will read the book "Graffiti in Tahiti" by Victoria Wilson-Merritt, international graffiti expert, to the fourth-grade students. The story will begin a conversation about the effects of graffiti in neighborhoods.
As part of its education efforts, the City of San Antonio Code Enforcement Services Department donated copies of the children's book "Graffiti in Tahiti" to every public elementary school in San Antonio and surrounding areas. Volunteers will treat nearly 3,000 San Antonio fourth graders to a special reading of the book throughout September.
Camelot is one of the many schools that will be visited. Students were also given free t-shirts and will wear them during the presentation.
