NEISD art students sweep scholastic art awards

North East ISD art students were in the spotlight at the Scholastic Art Awards presentation ceremony was held Friday evening January 31, at SaySi Central in downtown San Antonio. The Scholastic Art Awards recognizes the exceptional vision of the nation's youth by providing opportunities for middle and high school students to be noticed for their creative talents. Each year, creative teens submit their artwork and become a part of a community of young artists who support and encourage the creative arts.
SAY Si is the regional affiliate for the San Antonio Art Awards. They work with students, teachers, schools, and nonprofit arts organizations in Bexar County to promote, organize, adjudicate, and exhibit the regional Scholastic Art Awards. The top winning Gold Key artworks will be submitted to the Alliance for national judging.
The achievements by the NEISD art students are outstanding this year. Numerous school districts, home schooled and SAY Si students entered their artwork for competition. Below is an explanation of the award categories and results of our talented NEISD art students.
Honorable Mention: Work demonstrating artistic potential
- 54% - NEISD artworks
Silver Key: Works worthy of recognition on the regional level.
- 80% - NEISD artworks
Gold Key: The highest level of achievement on the regional level. Gold Key artworks are forwarded to New York City for national adjudication.
- 50% - NEISD artworks
American Vision Nominee: Works named "Best of Show" for each region. There were 4 awards given
- NEISD art students received 3 of the 4 American Vision Nominees.
